Safety first

Stop riding if the bike will not stop properly

Do not test weak or inconsistent brakes in traffic. Walk the bike or arrange transport if the lever reaches the handlebar, braking power has dropped sharply or you hear grinding.

Soft or long lever

The lever travels much farther than usual, feels vague or comes close to the handlebar before the bike slows.

Rubbing or squealing

The brake makes noise, drags while riding or the wheel does not spin freely. Start with the free adjustment if you are unsure.

Grinding or weak braking

Stop riding. Worn pads or another fault can damage braking surfaces and make stopping unsafe.

Add three useful details when booking

Front, rear or both

Say which brake is affected and whether the problem happens all the time or only while braking.

How it feels or sounds

Use plain words: soft lever, rubbing, squealing, grinding, pulsing or weak stopping power.

Bike and brake type

Add the bike make and model. If you know the brake brand or whether it is hydraulic or cable-operated, include that too.

More than a brake adjustment?

Book the job you know, then approve anything extra

If inspection finds a different fault or additional parts are needed, the workshop explains the next step, cost and likely timing before extra work begins.

E-bike brake repair questions

Practical answers from our Indooroopilly workshop. Reviewed 16 October 2026.

How much is an e-bike brake repair in Brisbane?

We offer a free brake adjustment for brakes that feel soft, rub or squeal. If the pads are worn out, the separate $45 brake pad service includes new pads fitted and the brakes adjusted.

Should I ride an e-bike with weak brakes?

No. If braking is weak, inconsistent, grinding or the lever reaches the handlebar, stop riding and arrange assessment before using the bike again.

Do I need an adjustment or new brake pads?

Choose the free brake adjustment if the brakes feel soft, rub or squeal and you are unsure. We will tell you if the pads are worn and the $45 pad change is the right service.

How long will it take?

Both options reserve a 30-minute arrival slot. We confirm collection timing after seeing the bike; it depends on the fault and whether parts are needed.

Where is the workshop?

5/8 Lambert Road, Indooroopilly QLD 4068, about one minute on foot from Indooroopilly Station. We are open Monday to Friday 10am–4pm and Saturday 10am–2pm, excluding Queensland public holidays.
