Brisbane Bike Rental e-bike rental agreement & release v4 (2 October 2026)
1. Renter & bike details
1.1 The renter, the bike, the hire dates, the weekly rate, the total rental amount and the security deposit are as shown on the first page of this agreement, and form part of it.
2. Our commitment to you
2.1 We will provide you with a rental bike that is safe, in good operating condition and ready to ride.
2.2 A member of our team will adjust the saddle height for you, based on the details you give us online or in person at pickup.
3. Your responsibilities
3.1 You must know how to operate the rental bike (and trailer, if hired) safely, obey the road rules at all times, and ride within your experience and ability. If you would like an introduction to riding, please let our staff know before your hire begins.
3.2 You must keep the bike stored in a secure and safe location throughout the hire, and return it to the premises it was hired from.
3.3 You must report any damage, or any mechanical or electrical problem, to us when you return the bike.
4. Bookings, cancellations & returns
4.1 By making a booking with Brisbane Bike Rental, you agree to these terms.
4.2 Cancellations. When you book, you pay the first week's rent and a $75 refundable security deposit. The first week's rent is non-refundable if you cancel. If you cancel before pick-up, the security deposit is refunded in full.
4.3 Returns. You must return the bike and all accessories on the agreed date and time. If you are unable to, contact us beforehand to find out whether the hire can be extended.
4.4 Late returns. Late returns are charged for the delay based on the daily rental rate. A time-extension fee of $100 per day applies if the bike is not returned to the premises it was hired from by 10:00 am on the last day of hire (a 20-minute grace period applies).
4.5 Weekly payments. After the first week, rent is charged weekly on the day each week starts: automatically from a card you save in the Brisbane Bike Rental app (we remind you the day before), or to the card you provide at pick-up. Pick-ups and returns are between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, and 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Saturday.
4.6 Changing your hire. You can extend, shorten or end your hire early in the app or at the shop. A hire that is shortened or ended early is charged at the weekly rate on our price list for the shorter length, including the weeks already started, and rent for weeks already started is not refunded. If your hire ends before the number of weeks you originally booked, the $75 security deposit is kept. The new price is shown to you before you confirm any change.
5. Damage, loss & theft
5.1 You are responsible for any damage to, or loss of, the rental bike(s) and accessories while they are in your care.
5.2 Once a Brisbane Bike Rental mechanic has completed a full, detailed inspection, we will give you — and explain — an invoice for the repair or replacement of the bike and accessories, plus any resulting loss to the business.
5.3 Cosmetic damage caused while the bike is in your possession, such as chips, dents and scratches, may be charged at Brisbane Bike Rental’s discretion.
5.4 Do not ride the bike on the beach, on sand or through water. Doing so damages the bike, which must then be dismantled, thoroughly cleaned and reassembled at your cost.
5.5 A cleaning fee of $15 to $30 may apply if the bike is returned dirty or not in ready-to-ride condition.
5.6 Standard charges are listed below. Accessories are optional and subject to availability.

6. Payment, security & identification
6.1 You must provide credit card details and matching photo ID (an Australian driver licence or passport), which we hold as security for the hire period. If the card details do not match your photo ID, we may decline the booking.
6.2 You authorise Brisbane Bike Rental to charge any damage, loss, cleaning, late-return or other fee under this agreement to the payment method(s) you have provided.
6.3 Brisbane Bike Rental may contact the police immediately if we suspect fraudulent activity or believe the card provided is stolen.
7. Helmets & road rules
7.1 Helmets are compulsory in Queensland. You must wear an approved bicycle helmet whenever you ride, including on roads and road-related areas, bike lanes, bike and shared paths, footpaths, car parks and in recreational parks. Police can stop riders and issue a fine or a warning for not wearing one.
7.2 We will provide a helmet, or you may use your own. You agree to wear a helmet at all times while riding and accept all consequences of not doing so. Wearing a helmet may reduce the risk of head injury.
7.3 Road rules can change. Please check the current rules on the Queensland Government website (qld.gov.au).
8. Release & waiver
8.1 You acknowledge that Brisbane Bike Rental has no control over how you operate the rental bike. Brisbane Bike Rental accepts no responsibility, and cannot be held liable, for any personal injury, property damage, third-party liability or other loss, delay, inconvenience or irregularity caused by:
(a) any wrongful, negligent or accidental act or omission by you or anyone acting for you;
(b) any defect or failure of any vehicle or equipment owned, operated or otherwise used by you; or
(c) any wrongful or negligent act or omission of any other party not under the direct or indirect control of Brisbane Bike Rental.
8.2 You release Brisbane Bike Rental and its agents and employees from any and all liability arising during the rental period. You are aware of the risks involved in cycling, including but not limited to physical exertion, forces of nature, accidents, travel by any mode of transport, the adequacy of medical facilities, and negligence (other than wilful or fraudulent) by Brisbane Bike Rental’s employees, agents or others.
8.3 You are responsible for your own welfare and accept all risks associated with the activities you undertake while renting from Brisbane Bike Rental. These terms are binding on you, your family members, heirs, successors, assigns, dependants, any minors accompanying you, and your legal representatives.
8.4 Brisbane Bike Rental and its agents may refuse hire to anyone judged incapable of riding safely, or who does not sign this agreement or any other required documents.

(k) the Hirer AGREES TO FULLY RELEASE AND DISCHARGE THE OWNER FROM ANY LIABILITY whatsoever for any damage, injury or claim — including injury or damage to the Hirer, any third party or other person, or to the Hirer’s or any third party’s property — resulting from the Hirer’s use of the Equipment and/or bike riding;
(l) the Hirer EXPRESSLY ASSUMES ALL RISK OF LOSS, DAMAGE OR INJURY RESULTING FROM BIKE RIDING;
(m) the Hirer consents to and authorises Brisbane Bike Rental to debit the Hirer’s credit card to cover the cost of any breach of this Agreement.
