Our Food delivery e-bikes (20″ folding or 26″/27.5″ full-size) are hired for a minimum of 3 weeks, and the weekly rate drops the longer you hire: $70 a week for 3 weeks, $65 for 4 weeks, $59.99 for 8 weeks, $49.99 for 12 weeks (about $7.14 a day) and $42.80 for 18 weeks (about $6.11 a day, our best value). After your first 12 weeks, your next 2 weeks are free — automatically, as long as your rent is up to date. Premium EMTBs (electric mountain bikes) are $150 a week for any hire length, or $59 a day for 1–6 days. Every hire includes a helmet, lock and chain, lights, a phone holder and free wear-and-tear labour (punctures, brakes, gears and servicing — only parts like a $28 puncture tube or $35 brake pads are charged; damage and misuse are charged at our workshop prices), plus a refundable deposit: $75 for e-bikes ($500 on a Working Holiday or Tourist visa), $100 for Segways, $75 for pedal bikes.
Our Food delivery e-bikes are hired for 3 weeks or more. A 3-week hire is $70 a week; from 4 weeks it drops to $65, from 8 weeks to $59.99, from 12 weeks to $49.99 and from 18 weeks to $42.80 a week. You pay the first week and the refundable deposit when you book, then rent is charged weekly. If you only need a bike for a few days, hire a Premium EMTB by the day or a Segway e-scooter instead.
Yes. Our Premium EMTBs (electric mountain bikes) can be hired by the day for $59 a day, for 1 to 6 days, from our Indooroopilly workshop, one minute from Indooroopilly Station. From 7 days they are $150 a week at any hire length. They suit Mt Coot-tha, the river paths and the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. A helmet and lock are included, and you can book online with live availability.
No. Anyone 18 or over with a driver licence (Australian or overseas) or a passport can hire. The e-bike deposit is $75 for everyone, including international students, except Working Holiday and Tourist visa holders, who pay $500. The deposit is paid when you book and refunded after the bike is returned in good condition. Segways have a $100 deposit and pedal bikes $75 for everyone.
Our workshop is at 5/8 Lambert Road, Indooroopilly QLD 4068 — a one-minute walk from Indooroopilly train station and a short ride from UQ St Lucia and Toowong. We’re open Monday to Friday 10am–4pm and Saturday 10am–2pm, and closed on Sundays and Queensland public holidays. All pick-ups and returns happen in those hours. Call, text or WhatsApp us on 0481 401 678.
Every hire includes a sanitised helmet, a bike lock and chain, head and tail lights, a robust bike stand and a phone holder.
Range depends on which model you hire — our 20″ folding Food delivery e-bikes offer an estimated 50km per charge, while our Premium EMTBs offer 75km+. All models are serviced monthly and fitted with high-power lithium batteries. Actual range depends on rider and luggage weight, how much you pedal, hills, pedal-assist level and general bike maintenance like tyre pressure and brake clearance.
To hire from us, bring a driver licence (Australian or overseas) or a passport — either is accepted for every bike type. The person hiring must be 18 or over; riders can be 16 or over (16–17-year-olds ride on a parent’s or guardian’s booking). To ride an e-bike in Queensland, from 31 August 2026 you also need a driver licence (a learner licence counts) — see the next question. Whatever you ride, follow Queensland’s road rules: wear a helmet, pedal-assist stops at 25km/h, keep to 12km/h on footpaths and when passing pedestrians, and follow the footpath and road rules. See the official Queensland e-bike rules.
Yes, from 31 August 2026. To ride an e-bike in Queensland you now need a driver licence, and a learner licence counts; riders must be 16 or over. The other rules: e-bike motor assistance cuts out at 25km/h, keep to 12km/h on footpaths, and random breath tests apply, with the same 0.05 limit as drivers. Fines are $518 for riding without a helmet, carrying a passenger, or careless riding. To hire from us you still only need a driver licence or passport and to be 18 or over, but bring your licence on every ride. General information, not legal advice: check the official Queensland e-bike rules.
Since 17 August 2026, delivery platforms in Australia must pay on-demand food delivery riders at least $31.30 per hour of engaged time on a bicycle or e-bike. If your earnings fall short over an earnings period (up to 21 days), the platform has to top you up. The rate rises by $0.50 an hour from 1 January 2027. At the Fair Work minimum of $31.30 per engaged hour, our 18-week rent of $42.80 a week equals under 1.5 hours of paid delivery time. That is not a promise of earnings. Our free rider app’s Fair Pay Check compares each delivery app’s pay with the minimum. General information, not advice: read the Fair Work announcement.
On a student visa (condition 8105) you can work 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session, and that counts all your paid work together, delivery included. In official course breaks the limit doesn’t apply. Our free rider app has a Study Hours Guard that tracks your fortnight on your phone and keeps it private. General information, not migration advice: check the Home Affairs student visa page.
You can end any hire early. We keep the security deposit and charge one extra week’s rent at your contract rate as the early-exit fee. The weeks you have ridden stay at your contract rate, so we don’t re-price them. Want to stay longer instead? You can extend anytime in the free rider app, and after your first 12 weeks your next 2 weeks are free (rent up to date).
Yes. A second battery for a Food delivery e-bike is $45 a week, charged with your rent. You can add one in the free rider app or at pick-up. Riders on long shifts often keep the spare charging at home and swap it in halfway through. The app’s Battery coach helps you get the most range from each charge.
Every e-bike we hire and sell gives pedal-assist up to 25km/h from a 250W motor and is built to the EN 15194 standard, in line with Queensland's e-bike rules. You can ride faster under your own pedal power. On footpaths, and when passing pedestrians on shared paths, the limit is 12km/h.
Yes — we know these accessories are essential, so they're included with every hire as standard, not charged as an extra.
A full charge takes around 5 hours. If you've only used a small amount of the battery, a top-up charge will naturally take less time.
No — they're not loud at all. Our e-bikes run silently.
Yes, the battery can be removed in seconds using your key to unlock it from the frame — handy for charging indoors or extra security.
Very little — a full charge typically costs somewhere between 10 and 40 cents in electricity at Queensland household rates, depending on the size of the battery.
A driver licence (Australian or overseas) or a passport, and the credit or debit card you’ll use for your weekly payments. The person hiring must be 18 or over.
Yes. Every booking has one refundable security deposit, however many bikes. For e-bikes it’s $75 for everyone, including international students ($500 on a Working Holiday or Tourist visa); it’s $100 for Segways and $75 for pedal bikes. If a booking mixes bikes, the highest deposit applies. The deposit is paid at booking, online with your first week’s rent, and refunded after the bike is returned in good condition, less anything owed under your rental agreement — or in full if you cancel before pick-up. Ending a contract early? The weeks you ride stay at your contract rate, one extra week’s rent is charged as an early-exit fee, and the security deposit is kept.
You can book online, by phone or in person. When you book, you pay the first week’s rent and the refundable deposit ($75 e-bikes, or $500 on a Working Holiday or Tourist visa; $100 Segways, $75 pedal bikes); after that, rent is charged weekly from pick-up. We’re happy to move your pick-up date if you ask in advance. If you cancel, the first week’s rent is non-refundable and the deposit is refunded in full. If you don’t turn up without letting us know, the first week’s rent is kept. Pick-ups and returns are Monday to Friday 10am–4pm and Saturday 10am–2pm; we’re closed on Sundays and Queensland public holidays.
Absolutely — you're welcome to take a test ride with us any time, in-store.
You agree to return the bike at the date and time in your rental agreement; a short grace period applies for lateness. Ending a contract early? The weeks you ride stay at your contract rate, one extra week’s rent is charged as an early-exit fee, and the security deposit is kept. Talk to us in advance if your plans change and we’ll do our best to work with you.
You’re responsible for the bike and its accessories for the length of your rental. Wear-and-tear labour is free while you hire (you pay only for parts like a $28 puncture tube or $35 brake pads); damage and misuse are charged at our workshop prices. Full details are set out in your rental agreement, provided when you book — get in touch and we’ll talk you through it.
You should have your own accident and liability insurance in place. Brisbane Bike Rental is not responsible for injury, loss or damage arising from your use of a hired bicycle — ride safely and within your ability.
Yes. Every e-bike we hire and sell meets Queensland's rules: a 250W motor, pedal-assist that cuts out at 25km/h, and built to the EN 15194 standard. Overpowered or throttle-only e-bikes can now only be ridden on private property — worth knowing before you buy a cheap one online.
Yes. If you buy an e-bike from us within 4 weeks of starting your hire, up to 4 weeks of the hire you've paid comes off the purchase price. Just ask us at purchase and we'll apply the credit.
Yes. Share your code from the app — when your friend picks up and pays their first week, $25 comes off your next week.
Yes — and there’s nothing special to sign up for. After your first 12 weeks with us are ridden and paid, your next 2 weeks are free, automatically: we waive your next 2 weekly payments, as long as your rent is up to date. On a 12-week plan that’s 14 weeks of riding for the price of 12. It’s a one-time bonus per rider.
